Composer, producer and performer - Phil Edwards

Phil Edwards is one of the most acclaimed and sought-after Musical Directors in world theatre, with a string of successes in the West End, on Broadway, Las Vegas and around the world.


He is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music who has worked with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, and in many West End productions.

He has been Musical Director and Music Supervisor on many iconic shows around the world, including Starlight Express (London, Japan, Australia, Germany), Cats (New Zealand), Saturday Night Fever (London Palladium and Broadway) and was the original Musical Director of the West End phenomenon, Miss Saigon. He was Musical Director of the first German production of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

He worked regularly as composer and arranger for T.V. and Radio in Great Britain including the annual B.B.C. programme Song For Christmas and the documentary series Soldiers with Frederick Forsyth. Radio work includes orchestrating Julian Slade’s Trelawney. Films include The Most Dangerous Moment and Cupid. Phil also created music for the Las Vegas mega-show E.F.X. He works as an arranger for several European pop bands, notably Natural Born Hippies.

His diversity is impressive — from scoring music for the Commonwealth Games to Musical Director and vocal coach for Vinnie Jones on his debut album Respect; from producer on Bratz – Passion for Fashion World Tour to Dance X for BBC TV. More recently Phil was also the orchestrator and Musical Supervisor of the world premiere of Flashdance The Musical in the West End.

He is co-composer and co-lyricist for four musicals: Ivanhoe (2012), Wingin’it! (2014), Body Count (2015) and Amity (2016).
